I think Conky could use some logic operators like: and, or, not...
Another thing would be to enable "if" statements for more commands eg. to check not only if let's say eth0 is up but also wether it has an ip assigned (other than 0.0.0.0)
Some simple math operators like + - / * could prove useful to some people for minor calculations.
