This symptom continues for me with 64-bit Vista as well. I just updated 7-Zip yesterday evening one a 64-bit Vista computer (not mine), and it's not showing up in the context menus.

This has occurred for me on a number of 64-bit Vista systems, and the 32-bit version of 7-Zip was never installed on any of them (whenever the 64-bit version of an application is available, I always choose it when the platform is 64-bit).
I will try uninstalling, and re-installing, but is there some special command-line option that I should use to ensure a "thorough uninstall" instead of using...

Thank you for your prompt response. I tried what you suggested, but it didn't resolve the problem for me. I also tried uninstalling 7-Zip, then downloading and installing the current .MSI (and even rebooted after that just to be sure), but the problem remains.
This does not occur on 32-bit Vista, but it does continue to be a problem on 64-bit Vista.

In other archiver tools, such as WinRAR, extracting files from .tgz or .tar.gz files is done easily in one step. With 7-Zip, I have to first extract the tar file, and then perform a second extraction of the extracted .tar file.
My suggestion is that for .tgz and .tar.gz extensions, and 7-Zip provide a second option in the Windows context-menu to automatically extract the .tar contained...

In Windows Vista 64-bit, the context menus don't appear when I right-click on any supported archive file as it does in 32-bit versions of the OS.

Maybe your eMail client isn't displaying the message properly, or the message has malformed headers (e.g., MIME type set to something different from the actual content).
If you can get a raw view of the message, then you'll have a better chance of seeing what's really going on (under the hood). Pegasus Mail has a "Raw view" mode which shows everything, unedited. ThunderBird comes...

Be careful with this system because it's a C/R system that could get you blacklisted due to sending challenge requests back to trivially forged senders (spammers do this all the time, and so do many viruses and other malicious software that infect computers).

Telling users to use FTP results in them whining about how PC AnyWhere can do this, and then they end up considering SpyWare options instead because FTP is cumbersome (most FTP client software has at least a few quirks, and many nowadays have way too many features that make it complicated for the users). The other problem is that then we need to configure and FTP server and deal with potential...
