Hmm, curious! I thought the steps I was recommending would not be necessary for native GTK+ apps. Is Granule complied with it's own version of GTK+ - could that be why? Otherwise I would expect a native Gnome app to work just fine 'out-of-the-box' with a default Ubuntu/Gnome/SCIM setup (my other GTK+ apps, Pidgin, StarDict, Geany etc., do). Might be worth looking into, as it will...

No worries, my pleasure. I'm just a fellow user, but this issue of SCIM in qt-based apps on Gnome has driven me nuts before. I opted for a clean install of Jaunty, instead of an upgrade, so I've recently re-visited this problem and it's solution. Take care :)

you did add the lines to /etc/profile, didn't you? your last post suggests perhaps you added to them the wrong place. to be clear, these lines: # SCIM export XMODIFIERS='@im=SCIM' export GTK_IM_MODULE="scim" export XIM_PROGRAM="scim -d" export QT_IM_MODULE="scim" scim -d need to go in /etc/profile (or possible ~/.profile, but mine are in...

okay, no worries. here's the next step: add the following lines to your profile - actually, it's probably best to do this in the system profile file, /etc/profile: # SCIM export XMODIFIERS='@im=SCIM' export GTK_IM_MODULE="scim" export XIM_PROGRAM="scim -d" export QT_IM_MODULE="scim" scim -d on reflection it might be best to check that the locale is...

what distro/desktop are you using? Granule is built in qt (if I remember correctly), so if you're using gnome that would probably explain your difficulty. I use Ubuntu with the regular Gnome desktop environment, and with a little tweaking I was able to get SCIM working in qt apps, including Granule and Skype. I type Chinese and Hindi, not Japanese, but that shouldn't matter. The key for...

  • request for project url change

Hi - I would like to request a url change for our project "DDBC Resources for Buddhist Studies". Currently, the url is "https://sourceforge.net/projects/ddbctimeadb/", and we hope instead to include multiple offerings, including the time adb, under this project. We would therefore like to request that the url be changed to ddbc_buddhist_studies or similar, if it can be arranged. Alternatively,

Hi Vlad, I'm using this software for the first time on Ubuntu Intrepid, and I'd like to upgrade to v. 1.4, especially since I'm working on some scripts to create decks of flashcards with Chinese characters, and I want to be testing the results on the latest version :) However, I'm having some difficulty installing the new version. The deb provided is for i386 architecture, and I run a...
