Thanks for the Info Zsolt!
Too bad, 4 port SATA controllers seem to be rather expensive.
While the VIA controller seems good, it looks like it is one of those "4 ports" that have one IDE and 2 SATA (or one SATA + one eSATA mode) ports?
The price difference would not be the issue as its just a few dollars, but depending on the drive count it would take up most PCI slots ;-)

Hi Dan,
thank you for the quick reply and the usefull links!
1b. Surely 4 would use less power- though I would prefer data safety above power consumption (plus the system is idle or on standby most of the time anyway).
2. That is more then I thought; Is a software RAID 5 not able to run on a smaller machine at all? I do not need full harddrive read/write performance, just a slow but big...

Hello,
after loosing data twice I plan on setting up a Raid 5 system.
After some reading I have decided to give FreeNAS a go, but a few questions remain:
1-Would it be wise to use 8x250gb instead of 4x500gb harddrives?
The price is almost the same since I found some 250gb drives on sale (plus one aditional SATA controller for the aditional disks is not too expensive either).
On one side...

Hello, wouldnt it be possible to add a $position value to each forum-topic-file and sort the list? This would avoid changing filenames recursivly.

I must agree, the game is just great so far.
I am into stopmotion and clay, and its a great concept. The buildings look very nice, I bet it was lots of work?
I saw that the last News-Update was rather a while back, is there still development going on? I know live can be stressfull :-)

Hello, thank you, I will check it out.
While it was driving you crazy in flash, I would suggest it is a matter of taste and not generally a dubious feature. As I stated, this could be a optional mode or tool.
I tried arround with the 0.46 version, but I can not find any of the features really, therefore I would not call this closed.
Filling drawings will still not work, the filling will...

Hello, thank you for your reply!
I've downloaded 0.46 right away, I somehow missed that it has related features.
The Tweak tool looks very promising, offering some neat effects, though it reminds me more of the smudge-tool in PSP then the functions I mentioned.
Still, its a great tool!
One of the major things I ment and miss is that, if I draw a cartoony character for example, I would need...

Hello,
I know Inkscape is not Adobe Flash nor is it intended for drawing only, but Macromedia / Adobe Flash has some interesting features for drawing.
I am terribly sorry if this has been adressed before, but I browsed through several pages of the feature requests and searched for a couple of terms.
I was unable to find a prior feature request adressing the features I will bring up in this...

Hello,
I have stumbled across this project, since I am currently working on a stopMotion tutorial based on free software.
I use to recomend MonkeyJam, but I am trying to find something for linux now thats both easy and functional.
Anyway, I noticed that the forum is empty; and the mailing list sent me back an errormessage:
