I don't know how to use photoshop or gimp, but I had an idea of what I thought might be nice -- basically using the NCO letters, but making the "O" for "Operators" into a cog. I stole a cog from
http://www.dreamstime.com/cog-image5629104
and then just did text art in powerpoint to add a few different type fonts for the NC. See what you think...

For some reason, NCO does not like this OpenDAP URL, even though other OpenDAP clients are okay with it.
This does not work:
ncks -M http://omglnx1.meas.ncsu.edu:8080/thredds/dodsC/fmrc/sabgom/SABGOM_Forecast_Model_Run_Collection_best.ncd
This is a valid OpenDAP URL (which you can verify by slapping a .html, or .info on the end).

NCO Gurus,
Do these NCKS commands that access OpenDAP URLs work for you?
The 1st one works, but the 2nd one seg faults, using my NCO 3.1.9.
# works fine:
ncks -M http://omglnx1.meas.ncsu.edu:8080/thredds/dodsC/models/testdata/BoM/20090402/ocean_fc_20090402_048_eta.nc
# seg faults:
ncks -M...
