At the top of an edit window, HexEdit displays the file type and creator (if any) of the file being edited. These values are each displayed with the 4 characters in reverse order on my Intel Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.5. For instance, if I edit a Carbon or Classic application whose creator code is 'abcd', HexEdit shows this at the top of the window:
Type/Creator: LPPA/dcba
