Yes, I could open my 0.8-beta1, but I still don't have a way to save it to a good file. I successfully exported it to an XML file, so I know I've got the data now. The 0.7 version will let me import the XML file, but then there seems to be some bug so it won't save the psafe3 file. I also tried importing the XML into the latest non-Java version, but the XML DTDs are different.

Would you please also provide details on what the special characters were converted to so that I can figure out how to open up my corrupted psafe3 file?

New information: It has to do with the password characters I'm using! My password contains caps/lowers/numbers/symbols. When I created a new psafe3 file with jpwsafe-0.8-beta1 using my such a password my original results were confirmed. When I created another new psafe3 file with the password '123456' everything works fine!
Interesting that it initially opens an old psafe3 file with a complex...

Summary: Corruption of Master safe password after saving with jpwsafe-0.8-beta1
Steps:
1) Take a working psafe3 file
2) Open with jpwsafe-0.8-beta1
3) Save the file and close application
4) Try to open same file
Result: Bad Combination. Now unable to open with any version of psafe!
Setup: Java 1.6.0_12; Gentoo GNU/Linux kernel 2.6.25-gentoo-r8

Hi all,
Just wanted to let folks here know that I just released cliPSafe v1.0, a command line interface (cli) to Password Safe databases. cliPSafe only works with version 3 databases and it currently only operates in read only mode.

sgtd-0.3.0 was released today. It includes at least rudimentary implementations of most of the remaining major functionality, including: on-line command help screen bound to the '?' key; use of the GNU Readline library for editing/inserting; handle terminal resizing; basic printing bound to the '^P' key; and basic searching bound to the '/' key.
I have not yet dealt with horizontal scrolling...
