This has turned out to be a threading problem with Tomcat
and Redhat 9.
I'm sorry if I've sent anyone on a wild goose chase.

My pool is configured to always at least 2 connections
in the pool (min_size=2). Timeout is set to 5 min.
Version: 0.9.4-pre6
Under some circumstances the pool "forgets" to
re-create the connection it has found to be expired.
The debug output below, shows this happening after two
connections has been present in the pool and both
expire at almost the same time. One connection is lost...

Ok. Not reading the instructions was my problem. "viaexp -V xv" did the trick. Sorry about my trigger happy posting.

I'm getting a segmentation fault while trying to run viaexp as a non-root user. This occures when it's probing for the cle266 output plugin.
