i was just pointing out that the hosts manpage is just way out-of-date. Numeric hostnames work on my redhat drbl booted machines. Please give the option to have a blank prefix and numeric hostnames.

interesting, "man hosts" says must begin with letter, can not begin with numeral.
But the 1989 RFC1123 says that dns host names MUST be allowed to begin with a digit.
Of course, as you have pointed out in the past, unix hostnames usage are not necessarily the same as DNS. Regardless, i would be happier if the installation process allowed for a blank prefix to accommodate...

A year ago, in the FOG forum, someone indicated they both use partimag and are compatible when a single harddrive partition is imaged. Images of multi harddrives are less compatible.

i wonder if your /partimag/ folder was mounted up somewhere else besides your main harddisk, say on a network drive or a second drive in the system. You might want to post the output of 'mount' and 'fdisk -luh' to this forum if you want to know for sure.

i have used Microsoft Works in years past to open MS Windows CE Notes from my mobile phone, but i no longer have it to test. i look forward to try and open Windows CE Notes from within OpenOffice or if not - the command line. Adding OpenOffice extensions to modify the OOo menu and toolbar is fairly easy, so i wonder if there is an extension for that as well.

Is ntfsresize available on the clonezilla LiveCD and drbl booted clients to size a partition downwards before imaging? Is GParted or QTparted recommended? Can it be added to the dcs menus simply we don't forget about these options.

i had many drbl booted clients with hostnames set to the ip address using a CentOS server.
Since these drbl clients worked great and ran extremely FAST, that makes me wonder why there is a requirement that hostnames can't begin with a numeral because. i realize this involves unix history but i would prefer to not have a prefix and use the existing hostname from dhcpd.conf which in my case...

unattended.SourceForge.net allows you to boot about any CD ISO image via tftp. If i can find their perl script that makes this possible, what clonezilla script would be modified?
