Would it be possible to make a buddy's entry in the
buddy list blink to indicate there's a new message
waiting from that buddy (blinking just the icon would
be nice even). Similar to what the notification area
plugin does in there, but I would like to get the old
icq-style notifications without using panels.

This is similar to bug 1259388, except that it isn't
consistently on startup, from what I have observed. It
will just happen occasionally. I can kill and restart
fbpanel and after a while it will re-occur. What
happens is every desktop in the pager will show window
activity of all windows open on all workspaces.
I am using 4.5 fbpanel but I used cvs current as the
group for this bug...

If you downloaded metis 0.1 or 0.1.1 between Feb 28 and Mar 01 and cannot log in to your correctly configured metis installation, it's because of an error I made when dumping the SQL file. The admin password is not correct in the database. You can either manually edit the admin password in the database to the following MD5 hash or you can just grab the tarball again (I've updated them both)...
