Yes, you are correct. Blizzard has disabled all CHAT-style
connections. Only a binary connection will work now, but
gaim-bnet does not support that.

Unfortunately, Battle.net doesn't allow that type of request
from a chat-style login. Chat logins are very restricted in
terms of functionality.

Whenever I try to run it, I get:

I know it's a little late, but eh. This only affects
Diablo2, and when you try to whisper somebody from Diablo2
without the preceeding *, it says "Unable to whisper
character (if you want to whisper an account and not a
character, use *account_name)".

clients that log on without a cdkey (CHAT, Diablo 1,
Starcraft Shareware, etc.) to only being able to use public
channels. This was in an attempt to solve the problem of

I'm not sure if all of these are directly Gaim related,
but I did a search for "occured" because I make that
mistake all the time, and noticed it in Gami's code:
