However, then I read the author of videodb writing " I do no longer maintain this software myself" and that the last update was on 05 Mar 2009, and I realize its status is not so different from OpenDB.

Hey, Jason, sorry to have missed this posting. My own need for OpenDb diminished somewhat about 6 months ago when my elderly webserver suffered a terminal disk crash. I have collected all the hardware for its replacement - with the exception of a round tuit. Real life gets in the way sometimes, and Google Hosting providing an acceptable escape route for much of my web presence needs.

Amazon have changed the API to require a unique UID per installation of an application. So that'll be every OpenDB install.
Interesting problem.
Maybe we need a "register with Amazon" somewhere in the OpenDB admin menus?
Or a single Amazon Media Proxy Server...

It would be nice to be able to automatically add
affiliate tags to the links from OpenDb pages to
Amazon pages. That way we could earn a couple of
bucks in the rare occurence of someone buying a
product as a result of following such a link. (Jason,
you should use your own Amazon affiliate link as the
default value).
It would only need a new config item to specify the
