insideApps is tested on unix and windows with mysql 5.0.27 and upwards. It would be really helpful to resolve the issue, if you can provide the exact error you are observing while running the install.

Reported Issue:
No Database Selected
Solution:
Please make sure the context.xml file has proper value of database name.
The reson being one might entered wrong value for the dbname through GUI install or updating context.xml file in case of manual install.

Yes, you are right values are properly replaced in context.xml after install is done from the entered information.

one correction, in example
Replace
mysql> grant all on insideappsdb.* to 'insideapps'@'pre-production' identified by 'insideappspassword';
with
mysql> grant all on insideappsdb.* to 'insideappsuser'@'pre-production' identified by 'insideappspassword';.

Hi,
Please make sure following points.
1. mysql jdbc driver exists under $INSIDEAPPS-HOME/insideapps-server/lib.
2. Please provide db user 'insideapps' privileges to access the db instance(this is name you have chosen to install insideapps schema) from the client host( From where insideapps console is running).
Run the following command on mysql prompt with "root" privileges...

Hi,
What I can gather from your post is, you have a instance of tomcat which you want to monitor with insideapps. And both insideapps-server and insideapps-il(monitoring your tomcat instance) are on same box.
It will really help full if you can provide both setclasspath and startup scripts.
Regarding your question, could you please clarify, if you are asking that one can use same tomcat...
