  • Nice!

Updated from 2.26; the little additions and fixes are very nice. Too bad this nVidia Quadro FX (at work) doesn't seem to support DDraw Overlays... nVidia drivers and DX 9.0a installed... but ah well, I'll try again at home on my GF FX and see if it works :)

  • Tray icon lost after explorer crash

When explorer crashes under Win2K/XP, it is automatically restarted by the system. At this point, it sends out a message telling applications that the taskbar is being created (it does this at startup too I think, but nobody cares at that point since no applications are active yet ;))... Magnifier does not yet use this message to restore it's tray icon when explorer restarts, so it's.

  • Comment: Overlapping window problems (WinXP Pro)

Logged In: YES user_id=381340 Great, will be sure to keep magnifier running to see if it's fixed now... btw, you might want to update the magnifier.sf.net website, it's running a few versions behind ;)

  • Suggestion: rules

A little feature that came to mind while working with the magnifier: I often work with interface design and I'm quite picky on alignment. It would be very useful if Magnifier had a little ruler (much like the "aiming" option, except with markers, with perhaps more obvious markers every 5 pixels or so) which would enable me to measure the open spaces more easily (lots of equal-colored...

Logged In: YES user_id=381340 Had the same problem a couple of times today as well, and shutting down Magnifier immediately fixed it... not a clue what's causing it exactly though...

  • Followup: RE: API possibility

The problem of course with the GDI trick is that it won't work on Windows 9x/ME/NT, which might be a more common occurance than lack of hardware support nowadays... but it's still better than not having any support for updates if hardware support is absent. I'd say, if time permits, implement them all and pick one depending on user preferences and/or availability!

  • API possibility

Although I've worked with DirectDraw I don't really know anything about the overlay, so I'm not sure what's possible with it. I do however have a possible "workaround" for the API method... do it like the sheep! Now for the explanation ;). If you haven't seen it before; there's been an application around for a while, "sheep.exe", which shows a sheep running around on your...

  • Transparent windows disappear

I have a couple of windows on my desktop which make use of the alphablending capability in Windows 2K+ which disappear as soon as I enter magnifying mode... I've had to deal with this in my own programs as well, so finding the cause was easy; in Bitmaps.cpp the screen is BitBlted on a bitmap. Add CAPTUREBLT as a flag and it should grab a copy of the screen as it appears (including.

  • Download bar and multi-monitor

Hi, I'm running a dual monitor setup here where my secondary monitor is to the left of my primary. This means the secondary monitor has negative screen coordinates (-1152,0 to 0, 864). The download bar seemed like a useful little gadget, until I tried to move it; apparantly the coordinates are checked to be >= 0, therefore I am unable to move it to my secondary monitor... I...
