erostew: wow! that is a bit... far fetched, in my opinion. Many systems out there alow different authentication modules and that doesn't mean they are insecure. it would ony be insecure if an admin installs an insecure auth module.
Systems such as Drupal, Xaraya, *nuke and even WSS among others allow the use of 3rd party authentication modules.

My fault, I should have been more specific! IMHO, having to manually edit a .php file is not "user-friendly-modulariseable". Moreover, what if phpgedview is updated and the php file replaced.
What I meant by modularised is that the admin uploads a buncho of files to a /module directory and then phpgedview starts to accept new method of authentication. For what I know, phpgedview doesn't offer...

It would be quite cool if phpgedview could have modularised sort of authentications, such as Google App Domain accounts or CMS systems such as Drupal.
