That' s fine with me.
I can't promise to deliver anything at short notice. However, feel free to prod me if this is taking too long (which it generally does once I publicly announce something ...).
Is there a public git repository for this project or should I just use some git-cvs tool on my side?.

Well my experience with a similar request for Fedora is sort of comparable. What basically happened is that after over two years (with little or no response) I couldn't be bothered any more to (yet again) make sure my request was upgraded to Fedora's latest release. The boring details can...

gigacontr cannot change a FP's pin. (It can reset a FP, which among others, sets the ping to the default "0000".)
The MS Windows tools provided by Siemens seem to be able to set the pin of a FP.

gigacontr (almost?) only uses digits for input and for output. Having used it a lot recently I must say this is rather awkward. One basically needs a copy of gigacontr.8 open just to use it.
gigacontr should instead use textual output, e.g.
$ gigacontr --getrate
115200
gigacontr should (also) allow textual input, e.g:
$ gigacontr --settype FP
Implementing this need not be hard (just...

gigacontr --help mentions a "--mode" option:
"--mode set operation mode"
This option is not mentioned in gigacontr.8.
(I have a slight feeling this option could better be named "--setmode". I also wonder why there is no option called "--getmode".)

0) Ronald mailed me (quite some time ago) that my advice was sound, so I'll repeat it here for the benefit of others too.
1) Make sure the kernel-devel package is installed.
2) Make a directory with a copy of the sources of the gigaset drivers. There are a number of ways to do this. One suggestion:
$ tar -xj --strip-components 3 -f linux-2.6.27.tar.bz2...

0) I guess I should apologize to Tilman and Hansjoerg as I already replied (via personal mail) to Ronald shortly after his post. (sf.net decided that I had to renew my password and I dislike forums anyway - mailinglists seem to me to be better for this type of communication.) Another advantage for me was that I could mail Ronald in Dutch.
1) Anyway, I also use Fedora 9 (and onwards). I told...
