  • Comment: Override OS default PDF reader

Besides, then opening multiple document simulatniously, the Open using... option is unavailable. This is another reason why defining in BibDesk how to handle PDFs would be very useful, as the current implementation forces me to open all of the 7 documents individually, using the context menu. Annoyingly stupid, BibDesk could be operate smarter than that by overriding the default OS PDF handler.

  • Override OS default PDF reader

When opening a PDF from BibDesk I always want Skim to open it as I take notes, but in Finder I want mostly Preview to do this as I mostly only view or read PDFs opened in that context. This is exactly why I would love to see an added feature that allows me to define/override the generic PDF file open action given by the OS, so I can specify exactly how to handle the opening of PDFs from within...

  • Comment: Open attached files in Skim

I fully support and totally agree with this request. Would love to see this implemented! I realize we have the context menu, but seriously, as the /context itself/ is different than when I view pdfs with the Finder, I feel it is only natural to be able to specify that /context/ behavior, and specifying how I want PDFs to be treated in this context. In addition, as the OS does not allow a...

  • Comment: Modifier keys to add notes of all types

Hm, you already use them all (modifiers). Ok.. I think I have made myself less than clear. Sorry about that. Currently, when selecting text while holding Opt to prevent selecting both columns, a box is drawn and the text inside is selected. Well, I would prefere a markup pen cursor that is visible when either entering markup-mode, activating the markup tool with a modifier like Cmd, or when...

  • Comment: Modifier keys to add notes of all types

What? I take it you do not use Photoshop much? Using space, Opt, Cmd and Shift is the optimal way to use tools in Photoshop. Also letters are used to select tools. Why? Because it is efficient, user friendly and very easy to remember - as a letter often fits logically with the action: M for marguee, W for wand. A shortcut has to be pressed, and is not directly associated with any event. A...

  • Modifier keys to add notes of all types

To make this a superior note taking tool, the adding of notes (markup, strike through, notes++) has to be made easier. What about the following approach; The use of the rather cumbersome shortcuts to insert notes, markup, underline, etc. is just too inefficient. I think the note taking tools just mentioned should be used and enabled in the same way as the color picker and move document is...

  • Comment: Export highlights & notes in readable format with page refs

Oh yea, this would be a great added feature! This would of course be even better if the annotation itself was made easier, like I have suggested in a separate request. To be able to fast and efficiently have a continous process of adding markup/highlighting text.. which means to add support for a modifier key to activate the markup pen. Then then just dragging the text I want to mark. When...

  • Comment: Pen input from tablet

Well, I would also love pen input, it is actually essential if the ambition is to become a serious note taker and reduce paper print outs. I will add some ideas about this in another feature request I have posted (shortly). The highlight is basically that the first think the Skim could do is support modifier keys to activate the different note types. That way I just need to press OPTION...

  • Comment: Editor Improvement: section Folding

Rather lengthy comment, sorry, but I felt I had to explain in detail. Would hate to see folding being added in a way I really do not find useful in a text editor (that differs significantly from the needs of a coder). I have to say that I would love to be able to open my main document, and see all the included documents as folded sections. Heaven. Stapler (mentioned below) does exactly this...

  • Followup: RE: Reproducing the same Vertex positions..

Tom / Joshua: Well, they are as mentioned all copies of the same graph: // copying the graph topology_ = (Graph) graph.copy(); I get a feeling I will have to manually do the equivalent trick on all vertices in all the copies? Starting to look into the forceMove() and lockVertex() to do this manually. Correct me if this is not the easiest way. Thanks! :-)
