I tested and randomly also had no results.
If you turn your session debugging on to show $_REQUEST
vars, you'd likely see that the 'cmd' is Update and all form
values are empty.
I've adjusted the file to hopefully eliminate this. Please
test with this new update and report back.

Apologies. I should know by now the obvious bug isn't all of
the problem. :)
If you would grant me a few moments to extricate myself from
current activities, I'll run some tests and see if I can
locate the error, or gather more info.
I should have something in less than an hour.
Just to be sure:
You type in the data and hit 'insert' and which happens...

I'd laugh but I know it's serious for you.
It sounds like I have 'foo' in a form action.
Just checked-on line 120 of cart/admin/products.php the
action is listed as 'foo'.
You can either edit and change
action="foo" to action=""
or use the attached fix.
(be sure to make a backup before you replace).
