What's happening?

  • Followup: RE: no menu bars

I totally agree with you about the importance of menu bars. But I'm afraid that I can not solve this bug (in fact I don't have any detailled knowlegde about Emacs' internal structure, I've just figured out a way to compile CVS Emacs more or less painlessly on my Windows box). Have you already sent a bug report (using M-x report-emacs-bug RET)? I'm not sure if anyone of Emacs' maintainers is...

  • Followup: RE: 2005-06-26 version -- line motion bugs

I've encountered bugs when moving through info buffers (seems to be related to the existence of a header line). However, I haven't seen any bugs concerning cursor motion in "ordinary" buffers yet. I'm afraid I won't have the time to make a new release in the next few weeks unless I encounter some really severe bugs that make Emacs unusable for me ...

  • Followup: RE: no menu bars

See http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2005-03/msg00413.html It seems this is still not fixed.

  • Followup: RE: LEIM Package Missing (again)

Are you trying to build Emacs? I think it's better to get the sources directly from Emacs-CVS as the script for creating the source tarball still seems to be buggy under windows at least. The leim-subdir is however part of the w32.zip, so you may copy it from this archive.

  • Comment: Dired/Ange-ftp problem

Logged In: YES user_id=841820 Sounds like a tramp-specific bug. However, I released a corrected package which now hopefully contains really all lisp sourcefiles, does the bug still exist when using this new package? http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/nqmacs/emacs-21.3.50.1-20050130c-w32.zip?download.

  • Comment: tramp-ftp not found

Logged In: YES user_id=841820 This was - again - caused by some missing lisp source files in the binary package. A corrected package has been released: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/nqmacs/emacs-21.3.50.1-20050130c-w32.zip?download.

  • Followup: RE: no menu bars

I cannot reproduce this problem here (WinXP): Starting Emacs via runemacs -q gives a normal emacs window including toolbar and menubar. It may be a common problem for Emacs under Win ME, please post your question to help-emacs-windows@gnu.org <http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/help-emacs-windows> or emacs-devel@gnu.org <http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/emacs-devel>.

  • Comment: Unable to start 20050130 release

Logged In: YES user_id=841820 The problem was that some essential lisp files were missing in the binary package (e.g. lisp/subdirs.el). This was caused by a strange interaction of the makedist.bat script and newer versions of tar. A fixed binary package is available at http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/nqmacs/emacs-21.3.50.1-20050130a-w32.zip?download.

  • Followup: RE: A question...

The project website you mentioned offers only convenient shortcuts for downloading some files of the latest release; please consider http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=92168 as definitive URL for downloading all files and releases. Are you sure there are differences between the file names mentioned at http://nqmacs.sourceforge.net and the ones mentioned in the release...
