I'm in.
For the record, what I did was to reset my SF password (I don't know
whether that was necessary but one of the other support calls
suggested that it might help) and then - disregarding SF's firm
statement that you won't allow password authentication - removed the
PasswordAuthentication no
line from my ~/.ssh/config
Bingo.
On sf I didn't have an authorized_keys file...

Hi.
I've been round the generate-key / upload / wait / test cycle several times but I'm not getting anywhere. (By "wait" I mean at least half an hour and in one case overnight.)
I tried initially using puttygen and putty, but have now switched to unix for better logging.
I generated the key pair thus:
ssh-keygen -t dsa -C nicklevine@shell.sourceforge.net -f...
