Thank you Jamie! That's perfectly reasonable. I can imagine it would involve a lot of work! No point in doing it until necessary. One reason I asked is that I don't like to implement something on a client's system which is not officially supported by *somebody*. (I'm a System Administrator, not a developer!) I also must confess that I have not yet to attempted to compile Net::SSLeay.

Ok that reply was off-topic. Please preach elsewhere about your preference for always compiling software. That was not the point of my post. perl SSLeay is no longer supported, so how will Webmin support SSL in the future? Could the developer please respond? Thank you, Dave.

  • What's the future of Webmin SSL? Net::SSLeay

I've recently been investigating using Webmin with SSL and the only solution which would work for our environment is by using the Perl Net::SSLeay module. (I don't believe a tunnel is viable for client browsers.) While it's easy to install the Perl Net::SSLeay in most Linux distros, it has to be compiled on UNIXes with the exact same compiler and compiler options used to compile OpenSSL and...

Excellent! That's just what the users are after. Thanks again. I appreciate your help!

  • Comment: All members of a group are not displayed

Hmm...I've just realised that what I'm suggesting could cause an issue. An administrator could attempt to remove a user who belonged to a group through their primary group (in /etc/passwd). However a user must always have a primary group! (Hmm I wonder what smitty does on AIX - will research that) Here is my suggestion. I hadn't realised this would become a lot more complicated. :( *Both...

  • Comment: All members of a group are not displayed

Thanks Jamie. I'm afraid you have not understood the area I am speaking about. Yes, there is a 'primary group' field when looking at an individual user ("Edit User" screen). I am not reporting a bug with user administration. The issue is with group administration. Click on the 'group' tab so a list of groups is displayed. In the summary 'Members' displayed are only those users who have an...

Note: I couldn't put this in the 1.441 Group as it didn't exist at the time of writing. This bug is against 1.441 and older.

  • All members of a group are not displayed

Webmin appears to only check the /etc/group file to display members of a group. However an account also belongs to a group based on their entry in /etc/passwd. In other words a user's primary group is recorded in /etc/passwd but they may not be listed in that group in /etc/group. Sun Solaris is an example where this occurs. While us System Administrators are aware of this we use Webmin...

  • Trove category request: Operating System

A user has requested a new category be added to the Trove Software Map. Name: Operating System Parent: Topic Notes: I recently tried to find all software for the Palm OS, but was not easily able to. While there is a Mobile category it includes other devices. Would it not be logical to be able to browse software by the intended operating system it will run on? Thanks, Dave.

Sorry I forgot to mention earlier, I'm using Windows XP. I don't believe it is relevant, but my graphics card is an Intel Mobile 965 Express.
