If you think of it as an external way to interact with pidgin, someone already has published a plugin to connect via web to the pidgin interface... Integrating something similar into a game or into a framework to be shown while in-game should not be that complex...

I think it would be quite cool if we could get info on the servers used by our friends and maybe their stats. gametracker.com has a quite simple restful access modes... If you need help, I would be very glad to do that.
