Hi! Welcome to the Developer Section of SourceForge.

In this section, you can fix bugs and provide patches to your favorite projects. Open source works best if everyone pitches in...and who knows, you just might become a coding legend!

To get started register for an account. Without an account, you can't write source code, manage projects, or create a project of your own.

If you’re looking for projects that need help, check out our Project Help Wanted board. If you have an idea for the next big project, you can register it and start coding immediately.

Finally, if you're new to open source and just want to find out what’s going on, check out our community pages.

Thanks for visiting. Happy hacking!

  • Followup: RE: Building colonies on resources

It depends. Bouilding on a resource is the best way to harvest a lot of that resource fast. Good for a temporary site. But other tiles should also be taken into consideration. Nota bene, You will never be able to make the most of the resource You buit on, since You won't be able to use a specialist on that tile. I like to build on hills with Ore. There is so many ways of aquiring ore in the...

  • 0.10.5 Foggy Mountains

It's one of the issues I'd like to get fixed before FC 1; though not a big thing, tricky thing about iso metrich projection is that a sall thing can ruin the 3D impression; The Fog of war creates a sharp line across objects such as hills or mountains, which make them look flat and unrealistic: http://imageshack.us/f/141/bladfreecol1.jpg/ A dark romboid is displayed over the mountain in...

  • Usa History in Pictures

http://ushistoryimages.com/jamestown-colony.shtm It's a website with USA history related illustrations (most from early XX century or older, apparently they are using images from below the copyright cut -off point, the exact source is provided for each picture) which can be used for Free Col. There is for example an illustration of colony building exactly ther format ansd syle we need and...

  • Followup: RE: AI cheating like mad?

It is also illogical; the prime reason for colonization is material gain, so it is productive to have, say 1 or 2 well placed colonies per ship, else You just can't transport the goods. It would be nice if the AI could fortify a colony and make it nice, attend to all it's workforce needs before seeking to build a new one. This approach is called perfectionism. It migh lift some unnecessary...

  • Followup: RE: AI cheating like mad?

The free units wouldn't be such a bad idea, if the AI knew how to properly use them. But bacuse of it's tendency for smallpoxing it it seems to me, itdoesn't make it a better chellange, it only makes the game slower by cramming the map with little colonies and units. For that reason it could have been nice if there was an option to turn it off. Also it seems to me that AI doesn't fight with...

  • Followup: RE: Intervention Force

The foreign mercs are useful primarily during WoI, when You are still able to sell goods to the Natives or to Europe, through other colonies or through Customs, but You get no other chance to spend the money on fresh troops.

  • Followup: RE: Intervention Force

In Col, You do NOT need to be at war to get the mercs offered to You. Collecting a sufficient amount of money is all it takes. (Greedy!)

But just starting strenght will be by far insufficient for You to implement the feature, I fear. What You need, is a graph showing development of strenght in both Intervention and Expeditionay armies. I'm currently researching data to make a chart comparing those every 50 Years from 1492 all the way till 1800. On all the difficulty levels. I'll be posting the results.

  • The Friendly Intervention

It may be a duplicate; I just wanted to add the text file with the relevant information.

    >> How large is the intervention force in the original game? Does its size depend on the difficulty level? How many liberty bells are required? Does the number of bells depend on the difficulty level? Yes it does depend on the difficulty level. The bell numbers are: 2000, 3500, 5000, 6500 and 8000 from easiest to hardest I have prepared a text file with complete data on the...
