Hi,
GO:0005750 : mitochondrial respiratory chain complex III currently has no synonyms, but it should have the same synonyms as its parent term GO:0045275 : respiratory chain complex III
exact: complex III
exact: cytochrome bc(1) complex
exact: cytochrome bc1 complex
exact: ubiquinol-cytochrome c oxidoreductase complex
exact: ubiquinol-cytochrome-c reductase...

Hi Jane,
For 1, it would be great to just change the name and move it - I only suggested obsoletion/re-creation because I thought that was the correct procedure.
It sounds fine to add the 'cell growth' parentage to 'filamentous growth of a unicellular organism'.
Thanks,
Maria.

OK, after consulting with my colleagues, I'm only requesting two changes:
1) GO:0045311 :' filamentous growth in response to pheromones' refers to a
process observed in S. cerevisiae (SGD hasn't used it in annotations, but
we could) and the filamentous growth involved refers to chains of single
cells. So could we obsolete it and re-create it as "invasive growth in
response to pheromones"...

I've been working on this more and I have a few more comments.
1) I think we do need to keep the general terms "regulation of filamentous growth" and the positive/negative terms. In C. albicans, some genes are involved in more than one type of filamentous growth, so it's useful to have a blanket term.
2) after submitting the original item I noticed that "hyphal growth" is a direct child...

Hi,
I like the new terms for the different types of filamentous growth and have just a few suggestions about them. If anyone else wants to look into this, just wanted to mention that PMID: 11104818 is a nice review of fungal filamentous growth. All these suggestions are arising from the fact that since "filamentous growth" now is a parent term referring to 3 different types of filamentous...

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see the need for 'protein complex biogenesis' terms. Shouldn't terms for assembly of individual protein complexes be children of biogenesis terms for the cellular component to which they belong?
Maria.

Hi Midori,
Thanks for the reference to the email thread; I skimmed through much of it again. My take on it is the same as yours, that the consensus is that at this point we should be "fairly liberal" in creating CCxBP terms. So this is a request for the following terms:
conversion of mitochondrial met-tRNAf to fmet-tRNA
mitochondrial tRNA wobble uridine modification
mitochondrial tRNA...

Hi,
As I understand the discussion on component-specific process terms, it seems that we are adding them if the processes are accomplished by different gene products in the different compartments, and/or the processes are fundamentally different in some way in different compartments. Mitochondrial translation was judged to merit its own terms because the molecular machinery is evolutionarily...
