I use it for almost a year for a challanging project of similar size.
I have no need for splitting the file but I think there is a message in the help forum explaining how to do it.
I use quite tricky schedules with different scenarios, multiple baselines, different rules for resource allocation, and many reports for tracking, invoicing with complex payment rules, prognosis...

I think your problem is caused by the version of matplotlib.
Take a look to the thread "Libraries problem" in this forum. (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=2156953&forum_id=520579). You will find one of the possible solutions described there.
Don't give up. faces is worth it.

Cam,
The Windows installer installs an binary executable with "python dlls". To create that you need a development environment with even a MS compiler, I think.
I'd prefer to use the native python code. But there is a issue which I did not overcome with the python source on Windows. I don't mean the issue with the old mathplot version. It is quite easy to overcome, nevertheless...

I am just managing a project with a schedule of a few thousand lines in faces. I manage different estimation scenarios, track progress, do sophisticated reporting for different stakeholders about timelines, resource assignments, efforts, costs, prices, and so on.
