I did a little bit of quick research out of curiosity and found this forum discussion talking about how to do think with OpenGL on Windows. Perhaps it can shine some light on a possible solution.

I presume 0.8 will be "done when its done" but any estimates as to when it will be out. Also, I cant find a source repository anywhere (am I blind?), so where is the development source and is it currently usable at all so I can play around with it? I'm working with game detection support myself, thinking of ways to make it easier on myself and others with its current implementation.

I've been thinking since reading this Wiki article on using game detection with gfire.

From what I've read in the article, it seems to indicate to me that you could extend support for time tracking beyond just games supported by XQF. Simply because gfire only seems to check the game name in LaunchInfo.txt/ingame.tmp...
