I found a case when the reload works: Open a file in texmakerX, edit it externally --> then the file is silently reloaded.
But there is a bug: The file is loaded in the system-encoding while I was using UTF-8 before and the editor still says UTF-8 in the status line. But I can not read half of my UTF-8 text anymore.
Whats actually not working: Open a file in texmakerX. Edit and save the file...

I can reproduce this.
External changes are overwritten by the the editor on my system using the 1.8.1 USB version (WinXP).

It did not warn me before saving the file. I checked that the file was overwritten by the editor with subversion and reverted the correct file later.
I'm using the windows/USB version. I'll try to reproduce the behaviour tomorrow again.

It would be nice to monitor all the files that are open in the editor for external changes.
For example subversion can be configured to insert version information into tex files after each check-in.
This information gets lost when I continue to work with the editor without reloading all files manually.

When I try to search IEEEXplore the connection is refused, JabRef hangs after that and I have to restart the application.
There should be a message about the refused connection....
