Buzzle74 - you're joking, right? By "standard feature" you of course mean single-purpose, rarely used, undocumented, and (ding) **nonstandard**. Copy-without-visible-selection, or even the notion of implied text selection, is _not_ standard in modern GUIs.
This Ctrl-C trick was only built into message boxes, which are very rarely used. It's NOT documented in help files, tooltips, or...

I see. Agreed: Ctrl-C copies that alert text _without_ selecting the text first.
Minor problem: that's a nonstandard, nonintuitive behavior for everyday users. (though it may be common among developers).
It would be helpful to note: [copy with ctrl-c].

"File | Calculate checksum", after completion, produces a dialog box from which the text can't be copied.
UI Feature Change request: please make this dialog Copy (ctrl-C) capable.
