Likewise, a XP2 with latest updates, access using :ext: (tortoiseplink). had this problem. 90% of the time i couldn't even get the "cvs version" to work without an Access Denied. The password box Backed down to 1.8 and its all peachy again. Sorry don't have more information.

i was having problems with my portmidi code (MacOSX), shorts worked great but sysex's seemed to have lots of extra 0x00 byes in them. after much hacking i determined that the problem is in portmidi.c line 1133.
