Its been a while since I worked on this, but I think I was thinking of having this combined with another patch that strips realms out (so kovert@OMNISCIENT.COM would be just kovert as it was passed through).
I now can't think of how any sort of exploit is possible with or without the patch, though if it was it would have been if someone was trying to do something nefarious in a session. If...

The current code base ends up extensively hitting kdcs for k5 password auth and going through extensive extra work within negotiate for subsequent auths within the same request (such as when hitting an authindex page with numerous entries).
The already_succeeded() function as implemented also never actually does anything because sub requests end up without user/auth set since, I think...
