This is behaving as-designed. This behavior was introduced in version 0.0.9 to mimic how mpg123 behaves. If you press control-C once during the playback of multiple songs, the program skips to the next song. If you press control-C twice in succession, the program exits.

I would like to know if irmp3 0.5.7pre-* compiles on CentOS. I bet it does. The lirc detection code changed in that version.

irmp3 depends on the mp3 player to report this information. mpg321 uses libmad, which can find either v1 or v2 tags. mpg321 should work; please let us know if it does not.
