The feature to explicitly support a controller AND a presentation model class for each gui4j view was discussed and dismissed.
Reason 1: there are several approaches to the "problem" of mixed responsibilities of "controller" and "presentation model" in the one gui4j controller instance known to the gui4j view. We don't want to dictate one solution.

a) If "editable" is not specified, the comboBox is not editable.
The documentation should be updated to make this clear.
b) Since "editable" takes a method call as attribute value,
gui4j cannot usually know at xml-read-time if the comboBox
will be editable at run time or not. But since it might be
editable gui4j demands that attribute "stringConvert" is...

The release gui4j 1.2.3 contained incorrectly built files for a short period of time. As of 2005-11-16 15:00 all gui4j 1.2.3 files are correct.
