in fact I would prefer to use a ready-to-use app bundle. But up to now I have not found one which allows me to build plugins not loaded with references to MacPorts (in /opt...) and elsewhere. I liked to build a universal plugin which relys only on a Gimp installation, unluckily the app bundle does not contain the necessary files (headers, gimptool-2.6 etc.).

I assume beside Gimp several libraries are necessary under /opt/local. Either MacPorts should be installed or some symbolic links have to be made as described already in the GMIC forum. gmic_gimp has to be copied to ~/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins (gimp from MacPorts) or Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/ (Gimp...

It is not clear on which system you are working.
For Unix'es and Mac'es you should ensure to have either "convert" or "gm" in your path. Under Windows you should avoid pathes with spaces, like usual "Documents and Settings" and have ImageMagick or GraphicsMagick installed.

Since some time it is impossible to do it with optimization -O3. (hours...memory paging)

Hi Davide, thanks for the hint.
In fact in CImg.h the convert command uses the format "ppm" to convert the tiff file. Possibly "pnm" would be better. With pnm color gets color and grey gets grey as far as I see on my machine.
