Another trick is that MRTG can't resolve subdomains other than WWW. My site has uses a subdomain for its SMI interface, and MRTG wouldn't work till I made a link to its directory so that it could be accessed via the standard WWW subdomain. And yet another trick: the install instructions tell you to run MRTG as a cron task, but if you do this, your root email inbox will get spammed every...

Hmm.. okay. I just download the released file sets, and hadn't been using the SVN at all, but okay.. I'm awfully surprised that this seems to be the only architecture-agnostic server-side radio station automation system out there, and as hard as I've tried, I haven't found anything better so far. There are a few features missing, like the ability to create and schedule programming blocks...

  • Followup: RE: Configuring a server - need help here..

I finally figured it out. It apparently did not have anything to do with SELinux tinkering with my tasks. Rather, it was a bug in the include/actions.php script. The code that constructs the command line to launch the sc_serv Shoutcast server application contains PHP variables that need to be interpreted - but these variables didn't get interpreted because the command line being constructed...

Sheesh. Okay - I was able to write a command in a simple PHP shell that can launch sc_serv just fine, but for some reason SMI can't do it. So it's just a code thing at this point, in the SMI code. Why am I the only one having a problem with this?.

  • Followup: RE: Configuring a server - need help here..

Turns out I was - kind of - but now I have a REAL problem. The problem was that SELinux is preventing SMI from using .PID files for its own purposes, thinking that there's some malicious tampering going on, so it's simply killing the sc_serv processes! This means I either have to 1) turn off SElinux (bad idea) or 2) rewrite actions.php so that it no longer needs to work with .PID files (may...

I tried starting the sc_serv manually, through the SSH shell, and it worked fine - and SMI found and correctly identified the server. However, for whatever reason it can't run commands via the PHP shell_exec() function. This seems to be pointing to a config problem with Apache. Am I on the right track?.

Okay - never mind that bit, it's all just Shoutcast conf file settings, and I was able to look that up. Now I need help of a different kind. I'm having trouble getting a sc_serv session started, though I'm getting no errors of any kind that I can see. Even checked the firewall to make sure port 8000 was open, and checked the permissions on the sc_serv binary. Where should I start...

  • Configuring a server - need help here..

Mostly, I need to know what all these fields do. What I want to do is open an ices stream and feed an external shoutcast server. How do I use these fields to do this? Even some tooltips would have helped. Are there comments in the code? If you could show me a working sample of what I'm trying to do, I'd be very grateful indeed. =========================== Server Name: Port...
