I have decided not to wait for a respond, and i will apply the CC 'by' license to some of the released files, for the following reasons:
- The MIT license can - and may, in my opinion - be interpreted such, that it applies to all content of the project; and i will mention this explicitly to the end user. Therefore, all content of the project is actually released under an OSI-approved license...

I posted a support request before, asking whether i could use the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license for those parts of my project that are not software (it's like the MIT license for texts, pictures etc).
However, in the meanwhile my project has been accepted and i still don't know whether i can use it because nobody answered. The license is not in the list of OSI-approved licenses...

I have submitted a project registration request under the unix name free-mac-tags, which review is now pending.
I changed my mind about the licensing: instead of Public Domain, i will use the MIT license for the program and the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license (which is similar to the MIT license) for the other products of the project (e.g. icons and documentation).
