  • new lines in bibtex file converted to spaces in title

If the title field in a bibtex file is long, it may be wrapped over several lines (eg. files created with JabRef). Bibdesk appears to convert the new line into a space, resulting in two consecutive spaces between words in the title. This isn't a problem when using latex/bibtex, but it looks odd in exports to MS word, and is also noticeable as a larger gap between words in the GUI. I've...

  • strings not expanded in ods/csv export

Strings are expanded by the Harvard RTF and HTML export functions but not the ODS / CSV export functions. This is true both File->Export and Export to clipboard (with JabRef 2.4.2/Linux). To use the exported bibliography with OpenOffice it is better if the strings definitions are expanded. As an aside, in case this is useful to other people, I was following the instructions for using JabRef...

  • reminders not carried across from thunderbird to myFunambol

The calendar items that I create in thunderbird (2.0.0.17/Linux i386) with Lightning (0.9) have a default reminder set to 15 minutes before the event. If I create a new event with a reminder and sync it with version 0.7 of the mozilla plugin, the event has no reminder in the myFunambol portal. Does anyone have any idea as to why this might be? If it makes a difference, I'm using the 'cal'...

  • default remote calendar location: event vs cal

I have a Sony ericsson phone and the mozilla thunderbird client which I keep in sync with myFunambol. The phone settings were set up automatically by text message from the myFunambol portal and the calendar database name given to it is 'cal'. When I first downloaded the mozilla client (then at version 0.5) the default calendar database name was 'event' and I had to change it to 'cal' to sync...

  • Comment: 2.4 doesn't open pdf on linux

Instead of worrying about the distro's that don't have xdg-open, would it be possible to trap the java.io.IOException and popup a message suggesting the user configure 'Manage external file types'? cheers, Jon.

  • Comment: 2.4 doesn't open pdf on linux

Ok, thanks for the help. I'd checked that 'PDF' was set in 'Manage external file types' on 2.4b, but didn't check on 2.4: once I set it, the pdfs open fine. Fedora 5 was released in early 2006 - it's likely more recent Fedora releases have xdg-open.

  • Comment: Improving pdf download to Jabref

Perhaps he means if JabRef were able to open a pdf in the same way that adobe acrobat does, but instead of displaying the pdf, it saves it to the 'main PDF directory'. In the process it could read the PDF metadata and creates a bibtex entry. This would be a killer feature! If it needs an additional command line switch for jabref, the user aught to be able to add this when they configure their...

  • search groups

I think the ability to search for a group by name in the groups interface would be a great feature to have. I have lots of nested groups and it can be difficult to remember if I've created a particular group before. Also it can take a while to find a given group by looking down the list visually. regards, Jon.

  • 2.4 doesn't open pdf on linux

Hi, I recently downloaded Jabref 2.4 and found that pdf links in my database didn't open any more, but if I revert back to 2.4b with the same database they open fine. The following error is logged to the terminal java.io.IOException: java.io.IOException: xdg-open: not found at java.lang.UNIXProcess.(UNIXProcess.java:148) at...

  • A button to clear text in the 'Fetch Medline' field

Hi, I noticed that the text in the 'Fetch Medline' field is no longer highlighted by default when clicking on the field in 2.4beta - I find it easier to use this way, thanks. Being a Linux user, I get in the habbit of using the middle mouse button for pasting text (it's a kind of secondary clipboard that store the most recently highlighted text for those not familiar with linux)...
