Just wanted to comment that I have NOT had a recurrence of this issue in 10 days.

Nothing lost or corrupted.
Understand that it is a lower priority; it's just a minor annoyance.
Still appreciate Password Safe after many years of use.
Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by "So is your problem also related to Power functions?"
But I also have everything related to locking the DB turned off. And when I see the problem, it is while I am at my computer working, so the workstation hasn't locked, hasn't gone into sleep mode and the screen saver hasn't started.
When I installed ver 3.18 yesterday, I did a clean install by first uninstalling...

Identical to bug reported recently on v 3.17:
The Database locks after few minutes of non-use, even though that option is NOT selected in Security, nor is "Lock ...on minimize".

Wondering if anyone else has experienced 'database locking' behavior described in OP.
Continue to see it on a regular, though not predictable basis.

Thanks for looking into this. As explained, I find it an unexpected and curious design feature. But I can see a rationale for the design; at least it saves some mouse clicks.
And yes, by changing the my sequence I've adapted to the current design.
Thanks for clearing this up for me.

I have additional info on this problem; testing has shown the following:
> problem occurs only under following circumstances: the URL field is filled in; click the 'U' button to "Copy Username to Clipboard"; click the 'B' button to "Browse to the URL..." ; paste the clipboard contents into the username field of the opened website.
> as described in OP, the password is pasted, not the username.

Using Vista Home Prem. SP1
Don't normally use the right-click method, but just tried that on several entries and the error did NOT occur.
But then, I'm not currently able to duplicate the problem using the button either.
It has seemed as if this occurs only within the first few uses of Password Safe upon opening it, then no problems.
I've tried closing and re-opening the app, but am not seeing...

Ver 3.17
Using the button "Copy Username to Clipboard", sometimes find that the password is placed in clipboard instead.
At first thought it was my error. But have seen it often enough and have slowly and deliberately clicked the correct button, so I'm convinced it is an application error.
When this occurs, if I click the 'username button' again, the correct value is then placed in clipboard.
