I think you misunderstand me -- I agree that maintaining compatibility with the behaviour of previous releases of liferea is what's most important. In fact I'm advising that it would be better to do that, than to conform to the GTK guidelines on this point -- IMO it would be better to support 's behaviour from earlier releases.

In earlier versions of liferea (up to 1.0.x at least), the user could drag a feed link from firefox into the liferea window, drop it, and liferea would attempt to add that feed to the subscription list.
This has changed; now, with 1.4.4, the link must be dragged to either the feed list pane or the item list pane. If the user attempts to drag the feed to the HTML view pane, the feed's URL is...

In versions of liferea up to 1.0.14, the item view contained all metadata about the currently-viewed item:
- the author
- the date
- the post title
- the feed's title
I notice that 1.4 now no longer displays the feed title by default. This is suboptimal; I often cannot read the feed title in the feed list to the left, since I tend to keep that pane at a narrow width.

I'd like to second this request. In fact I requested it a while back, too, as Feature Request 1237817, which I can no longer see but used to be at this URL:

Another possible way to do it would be to have a "recently-read items" UI view, which lists the stream of read items similarly to the Condensed View...
