Look at the file c:\Documents and Settings\(your user name)\Application Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\OOoLatex\tmp\tmpfile.ascii (here I assume you are using OOo 3.x), and check if any font names such as CMMI10 appear in the file.

I am using ooolatex on Ubuntu 9.04. Ubuntu 9.04 originally includes the library libstdc++.so.6 and, in addition to that, I installed libstdc++.so.5. These two different versions of libraries do not seem to cause any conflicts or problems. I am using ooolatex just happily.

I guess openSUSE 11.1 comes with libstdc++ version 6. You will need to install libstdc++ version 5 that is required by latex2emf used in ooolatex.
