My comments below are from Windows XP only.
I don't know why, but if you alter the application.ini file by changing
the line:
Name=TextOrangeVolt
to something with a space following the original and then some more letters, for example:
Name=TextOrangeVolt GarbageCharacters_make_this_work
the application runs.
(This is using XUL Runner 1.8.1.3)

I was compiling a complete dump (including values for the shortcut of the Windows icon, configuration, and log) to provide herein and learned that I had confused the directories between 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. The net.xoetrope.editor.eclipse.kalidoeoscope_2.9.25.jar was in the 3.2.1 instance which I thought was the current directory. I copied the kalidoeoscope...

I checked to make sure Eclipse is current. The failure of the net.xoetrope plugin to appear in the Plugin Details list remains.

The instructions for installing the Eclipse plugin are at http://xui.sourceforge.net/wikka/wikka.php?wakka=Eclipse where it states:
