Yes, qalculate development and maintenance appears to have stalled lately. I was in contact with the current lead developer a few months ago, intending to release an update with some maintenance patches, but I haven't found the time. I doubt that releasing a static compiled version is the answer.

Octaviz needs serious maintenance before it will work with VTK > 5.0. I am not capable, and no one else has offered to step up to do the work. I have started using Mayavi instead.

The original developer(s) have not been active in some time. However, I contacted the project admin, and I was provided with CVS write access a couple months ago. I am planning to provide a maintenance release with several patches required for compiling with recent versions of library dependencies. I just haven't found the time yet.

Do you have the file libXt.dylib? Is the path for libXt.dylib set appropriately by ccmake? How did you install VTK (self-compile, fink, macports)?.
