Hotmail Live is the AJAX thing, right? That's going to be tough to support in Gotmail. Gotmail basically does html screen scraping and that obviously isn't going to work with AJAX.
Supporting Hotmail's AJAX screens would probably mean a completely new project.
Is MS going to require EVERYONE to use the AJAX stuff at some point or is it going to remain optional?.

I'm hoping that this will be a GPL release of BIE at first, then redo-ing much of it under a pure GPL.

There is an option in gotmail to specify the curl binary, I
think it's
'--curl-bin' (or something similar). Try setting that to
/usr/bin/curl -k or wherever your curl program is and try
the -k option.

Works fine for me too! Sorry I've been absent here lately,
but my own account plus my test accounts have been fine
until recently.
A few days ago, my own account went south and I've applied
the patch. So far, so good.
I'll put out a maintenance release soon with this patch applied.

Try using the --curl-bin option and give the -
'-k' option to curl. This makes curl less fussy about the SSL certificates.
It would be something like --curl-bin 'curl -k'
That may help.

'Delete' was broken after the hotmail upgrade this winter.
The 'move' option now basically replaces 'delete'. You
should be able to move mail into the Trash Can folder after
downloading. 'Delete' will probably be deprecated in the
next release.

As far as multiple messages, I'm not sure. Is it because the messages aren't being deleted?.

No, no FAQ or instructions, BUT it's how I've ran it for quite a while.
To do it, use gotmail on your linux machine and process it using the --proc-mail option. Then, you should be able to connect to the Linux server from Thunderbird via IMAP. That's really about all it takes to read your mail with thunderbird.
SENDING mail is a little trickier. You need to use computer to be your SMTP...

Try logging in by hand from a browser. Microsoft has been
throwing up splash screens right after login to announce
that your account has been upgraded to 250megs.
The splash screen only sems to happen once; once you see it
in your browser and acknowledge it, it never shows again.
Giv it a shot, anyways.

I've been thinking about this one for a while. I think a
mail-dir format would be a good thing to have.
