Are there some "instructions" or the like for running a debug build of SciDAVis? I'd like to help out if able, but like you said, I can't devote a large portion of time. Do I need to download/install a special build of SciDAVis? Or is there a debug mode in the install that I have?.

At this point, I've declared SciDAVis inop for my needs. I was really looking forward to using it, but I'm spending more time redoing things because it's unable to save them when it crashes. knut_f, if you have any suggestions, I'd be more than willing to try, but I cannot afford to spend the time fighting with the program, versus actually performing data reduction.

  • Followup: RE: SciDAVis crashes???

So now I can confirm that the crash seems to occur with projects of similar size (~120-130 MB). I've begun my second project and while trying to save after adding another table, it crashes. While monitoring task manager, the memory consumption during the save process approaches 854 MB. The machine I'm using has 12.0 GB of RAM available (with 64-bit operating system).

  • Followup: RE: SciDAVis crashes???

I'm working on my first large project, so I can't comment on repeatability between projects of similar size, although I do have some new data to work on, so I should be able to tell you soon. Last night I tried to methodically make some changes while saving often. Seems that the most frequently occurs after making changes to an existing graph. The changes include adding/removing curves, and...

  • SciDAVis crashes???

Why does it keep crashing on me!? I'm getting quite frustrated. Seems to crash when I try to save the project. The project is getting fairly large (file size ~122 MB, 6 graphs, 8 tables). It has happened numerous times now. It has also crashed when exporting a graph as a *.pdf. I did not have any problems when first building the project (i.e. smaller file size??). I'm running this on a...

  • Followup: RE: Applying formulas to table columns

I should've included this in my last post, but when I try to eliminate the "extra" quotation marks I get this error; String value used where a numerical argument is expected. That is why I wonder if this has something to do with importing the CSV using the "Numeric data" option. I'd prefer to use this option.

  • Followup: RE: Applying formulas to table columns

So now a new problem. When I import data from CSV files into a table, I am checking the "Numeric data" box, along with "Use first row to name columns". When I do this, and try to create a new column which is a result of a formula applied using one of the previously imported columns (called "Ambient Temp(C)"), I get the error "Unexpected variable "Ambient" found at position 9". Here is the...

  • Followup: RE: Multiple y axes?

As you said, aligning the x-axes gets tricky. I didn't spend too much time on it, but I think it would get pretty cumbersome. I really think the right thing is to add this feature for a single layer. I look forward to seeing it implemented. Thanks for your help!

  • Followup: RE: Multiple y axes?

Yes, thank you knut_f. Is there a projected timeline for the next version that would include this feature? Thanks for your help and understanding! I think a lot of people will find this useful.

  • Followup: RE: Applying formulas to table columns

Thanks knut_f! I thought I tried that way of entering a formula, but apparently not! Got it working now. Can't wait to get into SciDAVis to see if it'll provide me with what I need!
