Hello,
We know about this problem, it is because we use java.util.prefs.Preferences instead of simple txt property files. We just wanted to experiment with java.util.prefs.Preferences class.
You don't have write access into the directory where preferences file is located. Try to install java into a directory where you have full access and the problem should be solved.

How to solve :
Open ~/.netbeans/6.7/config/Preferences/org/netbeans/modules/erlang/platform.properties
Set the key erlang.interpreter to point on your erlang interpreter
erlang.interpreter=/home/javajox/prg/erlang-r13b01/bin/erl.
