I think this bug is fixed in 2.6.31. The fix was discussed by Linux kernel network developers in July. See http://kerneltrap.org/mailarchive/linux-netdev/2009/7/1/6121913

The help command has been deprecated in openl2tp-1.6. It now displays a message to suggest reading the l2tpconfig man page.

Users are reporting that emails sent to openl2tp-users are bouncing. I also notice that no messages have been archived since 9-sep. Below is an example bounce. Is there a problem?

I've been unable to reproduce this. Can you provide as much info as possible about your setup, please? What kernel and distro are you using? What is your openswan config and what SPD rules are configured using setkey? Mail me directly if the info is security sensitive.
