If you want a Windows version then, yes, you will need to compile under Windows. It's possible that the problem is that the instructions need modifying for use under Vista. If so, you're probably on your own. I, at least, have never used it.

Thanks for the offer, but this would need to be done as part of NetHack (www.nethack.org). It would be far too invasive a patch to carry for Slash'EM. I know there has previously been a number of attempts at specific language ports (see http://www.nethack.org/common/links.html), but I'm not up on the latest developments.

Monsters are not confused by the fact that your hands stop glowing. Instead glowing hands are a side effect of the confuse monster spell. The message means that the spell has ended. At lower levels, it is likely to always end on the first monster but at higher levels it may last longer.

This is intentioned behaviour rather than a bug.

Nethack (& Slash'EM) in general has no such facility.

Closing this as expected behaviour.

If the message is getting corrupted onscreen but it's okay in the log (which ^P displays) then the problem isn't in Slash'EM core. That leaves the windowing interface you're using (eg., tty or whatever graphical interfaces is provided under Mac) as the most likely culprit. I'll reassign this to our Mac expert. Thanks.

Can you be a little more specific in what you think is misspelled?
I can get "You're covered in acid! It burns!" with clear jellys or "You are splashed!" / "You are splashed by the spotted jelly's acid!" with a spotted jelly (depending on the setting of verbose). It's quite possible that there are other possible messages, but these all look fine to me.

I've never heard of "ultra 3d" but I'm assuming you mean gtkhack with the 3d tileset. If you really mean some other (probably unofficial) interface then this is the wrong place to report it :)
I'm not offended by the fact that you find Slash'EM hard, but it's stretching things a little to call it a bug!

Thanks George.
Roger,
Thanks for reporting the issue but it looks like the problem is with your configuration rather than with Slash'EM at this point. One possibility that occurs to me is that you are running the game setuid (or possibly setgid) and the user/group involved does not have permission to ready your XAuthority file.
Of course it is possible that this really is a Slash'EM bug...
