That's possible.
You can specify your vnc server in the preferences-dialog.
Try to launch a server at localhost, display 1 (with the required changes in the FAQ on captorials) and use these values in the preferences-dialog.

Apparently, some foreign package got installed on my build system.

To come back to this;
I just did a 'apt-cache search libxml++2' on a debian unstable box (official repos only), and the last reported package is:
libxml++2.6-1c2a
So, not a problem after all...

I just checked the debian unstable package again, and you're right. I forgot to change the dependency to libxml++2.6 (lixml++2.6-1c2a on Ubuntu).

It seems like the exporter is unable to create a (offscreen) OpenGL pixmap, needed for exporting.
I can't exactly tell you what the problem is, but it's OpenGL-related. Can you post some information describing your setup?
Answer to the followup question: captorials only accepts .isd, yes, since the only way to upload recordings is through ScreenKast.

Congrats on you first cast! Perhaps, you may want to consider sending it to captorials.com.
Regarding the bugs: strange that the .isd filename isn't automatically selected when you save your recording, it should. I'll look into the second bug, and try to solve it in the SVN trunk, so it's solved by the next release.
Your feature request is indeed a feature with high priority...
