The first error related to the GTK theme is about borders being out of bounds. Its a warning that there is a mismatch b/w the image and the border size. As long as you don't see anything weird in your interface you are fine with it.
If you see the last line "(software-center:25754): GStreamer-WARNING **: adding type gulong multiple times Could not initialize GStreamer: Error re-scanning...

Mac4Lin doesn't modify any system files. So this is not caused by Mac4Liin.
In fact, its a known bug in software center. Check these pages:
1) http://www.uluga.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1304050
2) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/471690.

Hmmm.. right now I can't think of anything concrete. Did you install/upgrade Compiz? That may be using some other file for the volume. I'd suggest you to go through /usr/share/icons/gnome directory and try to find all the filenames with the speaker icons and then compare if corresponding ones exist in the Mac4Lin icon directory.

I believe you upgraded your Linux distro. If you use Ubuntu 9.10 then atm the volume notification has undergone some changes. I'm still looking into that. So you will need to wait a bit.
If you are adventurous enough, then you can scan the /usr/share/icons/gnome directory and search for all the icon filenames which the volume icon, you will then make to copies (or create symlinks) of the...

Oh, that file is in your home directory under .themes/<Mac4Lin GTK Aqua/ Graphite>/gtk-2.0 directory. You will need to enable Show hidden files in Nautilus to display the .themes directory.

Apart from Metacity you also need to apply the GTK theme. Download and read the documentation (from the downloads page). It will explain how to do that.

Glad you like Mac4Lin :)
The background color of the sidepanel is a global setting. Making any changes in that will change the overall color. Maybe the newest version of GTK, GNOME may support this. You can try tweaking the gtkrc file in GTK theme/gtk-2.0/ directory to test it out.

@andor
Do you use Emerald themer for window decoration? If not (and your use the default Ubuntu install) then no need to worry. You can ignore this warning.

Are you using the Mac4Lin Firefox theme and not the default one? If so, then I will have to look into it as its not a GTK issue but a Mozilla issue.
