  • Comment: Status bar background color

If you are using a classic theme, the color of the status bar (I'm assuming you are talking about the one in Windows Explorer), should follow the customizable colors in the system settings. If you are using another theme (like Aero or Basic), that theme should have its own status bar look. You may get some help customizing that from deviantart or sevenforums.

Hm, I don't know what else to try then. I am working on a new feature for the next version that may solve your problem. It will not be released for another few weeks though, maybe even a month.

The exe that runs the desktop and the taskbar is in C:\Windows. You can verify this with Process Explorer. However you need the explorer.exe.mui file in C:\Windows\en-US. It has 2 strings "Start" - 533 and 595. I don't know why there are two of them, but you can try changing both.

I don't know for sure, but I would start looking in the explorer.exe.mui file.

Those settings are for the All Programs button of the Windows start menu. They do not affect the classic start menu. See the third screenshot here: http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/gallery.html#menu.

Hm. I use a service to start the menu on login. It is possible that in your case it doesn't get the login event. Just to be sure, verify that the service is running. BTW, you don't need to use the settings command. Simply run ClassicStartMenu.exe with no parameters.

I hate to pull "a Microsoft" on you, but I think you are using it wrong. The MRU list is not intended to be a poor man's substitute for a MFU list. Its purpose is "hey, I just closed that program, let me run it again", or "hey, I just closed that readme doc that I had to dig through 3 sub-menus to open, let me look at it again".

Not sure what you are asking. Were you able to change the icon, and now are trying to add text to the button? If so, type some text in the Label property.

Go to the settings, and open the Toolbar Buttons tab. Double-click on the button you want to change. Click on the [...] button for the Icon parameter. Browse to the icon you want to use. Close the settings, and open another Explorer window to see the change.
