Dennis,
I understood that you already have data in the system. If a new version comes, then I would suggest that you install it on a new website.
That way you can check that nothing has changed.
As a rule, I never change fields, I only add fields when needed.
I'm also interested in ideas you might have while running this system.

Normally the major upgrade will be moving from the resource files to gettext(). This is only important for International use.
I've splitted the program in a base part and extension modules. But also this didn't change the database for example.

The solution I use now is too time-consuming. I store the texts in a database and MUST generate the resource files.
I'm also forced to use variables $XXX in my program what makes it hard reading.
Therefore I plan to migrate to the gettext module.
I will publish a gettext version soon, that contains no changes in the functionality, but will have all the texts managed through PO/MO files...

You're right, it is more logical to have the 2 separated VendorID ManufactureID.
In the table INVY there's a field that allows the saving of the ManufactureID and in the table of the Vendors (Multi-Vendor for 1 item) we would indicate the references of that vendor.
